Narrow Smile

Causes: Genetics (narrow jaw, tooth arrangement, people with a deep bite or increased overjet), habits such as thumb sucking, tooth clenching/grinding

Treatments: Invisalign or braces treatment, composite bonding and porcelain veneers

A narrow smile happens when your back teeth are tucked in towards your tongue too far, meaning they are not visible when you smile. Correcting a narrow smile, or widening out your smile can have a real anti-ageing effect, and make your entire smile appear bigger and brighter. This is due to the fact that with age, or facial bones naturally become thinner, leading to the narrowing of your smile.

Widening your smile can be done by using Invisalign or braces, as well as restorative options such as porcelain veneers or composite bonding. The choice of treatment depends largely on your personal preference (braces may take longer than porcelain veneers for example), the result we desire and the position and health of your teeth.

With Invisalign and braces we naturally tend to widen someones smile in most cases, even if this is not the primary goal of treatment hence we tend to get the added benefit of a wider more youthful smile with these options.
